Now that we're starting school, we like fresh and quick breakfasts! Here is a recipe for "overnight oats." Make it the night before, and in the morning, everything is more accessible.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 cups of oatmeal
- 2 cups milk of your choice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- Pinch of salt and cinnamon
- Optional: 2 teaspoons chia seeds, if desired.
Other optional mix-ins or toppings: Greek yogurt, brown sugar, berries, bananas, peanut butter or almond butter, nuts, honey, chocolate chips, granola, and coconut.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1:
In a bowl, mix oats with milk, Greek yogurt, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Add chia seeds if desired. You can also add a tablespoon of nut butter, brown sugar, honey, and fruit.
Step 2:
Pour into four jars and cover with a lid. Place in the refrigerator overnight.
Step 3:
The following day, add more milk if desired. You can also heat it in the microwave if you prefer. Sweeten to taste (We always add a teaspoon of honey). Then, top with your favorite toppings. Some favorites are Greek yogurt, almond butter, berries, and almonds.
